# 1 Speechify alternative for Mac

Canonical page: https://macbase.app/alternatives/speechify

Text-to-speech app that reads books, PDFs, documents and web pages aloud in natural voices.

Speechify's premium voices come with a subscription that many find pricey. Alternatives use the voices built into macOS for free, charge once, or run AI voices on your Mac so nothing you read leaves it.
