# 1 Zed alternative for Mac

Canonical page: https://macbase.app/alternatives/zed

Fast code editor written in Rust, with built-in AI agents and real-time collaboration.

Zed is open source, but it has fewer extensions than older editors, and not everyone wants its AI or collaboration features. Alternatives include editors with large plugin catalogs, full IDEs for one language, and simple native Mac text editors.
