Sonder

Sonder is a free, open-source markdown editor for Mac that works directly with folders of .md files. It keeps notes in their existing location rather than moving them into a proprietary library, making it suitable for writers and anyone managing a personal markdown folder, git repository, or iCloud Drive collection. The native SwiftUI and TextKit interface includes Focus Mode, a searchable library, hashtags, favorites, saved searches, rendered previews, and export to PDF, HTML, or Word. Sonder also offers style checks and can work with installed AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, and Ollama without using a Sonder server.
