Terms of Use

Effective 20 October 2026 · Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

MacBase is run by Fore Studio, the trading name of Atta Ur Rehman Shah, sole trader. Using MacBase, or signing in to it, means you accept these terms. If you list an app for a company, you accept them for that company, and you confirm you may.

2. MacBase is free

Browsing MacBase and listing an app on it are free. If we add paid extras later, they will be optional, and you will see the price before you pay anything.

3. Your account

You sign in with X, GitHub or Google; MacBase has no passwords of its own. An account is for one person. Keep the account you sign in with secure, because whatever is done while signed in as you counts as done by you. You must be 16 or older to have an account.

Your username must not pretend to be someone else or use a name you have no right to. We may change a username that does, or that a brand asks us to free up.

4. Listing an app

  • List only apps you make, or apps you are allowed to list for the people who make them.
  • It has to be a Mac app that runs on macOS: from the Mac App Store, or a download from your own website. Web apps and apps only for iPhone, iPad or Windows don’t qualify.
  • What you write about it has to be true: what it does, its price, the macOS versions it runs on, and whether it’s open source or notarized.
  • Every listing is reviewed before it’s published, partly with an AI model and partly by a person. We decide what is published, and we may decline a listing without giving a reason.
  • We may correct a listing’s formatting, categories or alternatives so it fits the directory, and tell you when we do.
  • We remove listings that turn out to be malware, spam, misleading, illegal or adult, that resell someone else’s app, or whose app no longer exists.
  • Featured spots and the order of apps on a page are our choice.

5. Your listing’s content

You keep everything you own in your listing: the app’s name, icon, screenshots, video and words. You let us show, copy, resize and format them on MacBase, and in what MacBase offers to others: its Markdown pages, its llms.txt, its public MCP for AI assistants, and posts announcing new apps. This lasts while the app is listed. When it’s removed, copies that others or search engines already made may take a while to go.

You confirm you have the right to everything you add, and that showing it doesn’t break anyone else’s rights.

6. The badge and the check mark

Adding the MacBase badge to your website is optional. If you add it, we check your page now and then to see it’s still there. While it is, your listing has a verified check mark and its link to your site is followed. If the badge goes, the check mark goes too, after a warning by email.

7. AI agents and your MCP link

Your MCP link lets an AI agent manage your listings for you. Whatever an agent does through it counts as done by you, and goes through the same review. Keep the link private. If it leaks, make a new one in your dashboard, and the old one stops working.

8. Other apps and their makers

Pages such as “Alternatives to iStat Menus” name apps that are the trademarks of their owners. We name them to describe what an app is an alternative to; it doesn’t mean their makers are connected with MacBase or with the apps listed.

MacBase doesn’t sell, host or install apps. It links to the Mac App Store and to makers’ websites, and what you download from them is between you and the maker. The details on a listing come from its maker and public sources, and we can’t promise every one is right or up to date.

9. Acceptable use

  • Don’t send spam, fake listings or the same app more than once.
  • Don’t pretend to be another maker or another app.
  • Don’t try to get round the review, the badge check or anything that keeps MacBase secure.
  • Don’t scrape MacBase in a way that slows it down. llms.txt, the Markdown pages and the public MCP are there for reading it by machine.

10. Closing your account

You can stop using MacBase whenever you like. Email [email protected] to delete your account and your listings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and remove its listings.

11. Liability

MacBase is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and right, but we don’t promise it will always be available, free of mistakes, or fit for a particular purpose. As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, such as lost sales or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to 100 US dollars. Nothing here limits a right that the law where you live doesn’t let us limit.

12. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version is posted here with a new date. If a change affects what you can do with your account or your listings, we email you before it takes effect. The privacy page says what we do with your information.

13. Contact

[email protected]. A person reads every message.
